I first became interested in Elvis Presley when I was only 3 years old. Of course at 3, you do not really know that much but, all I knew was that I liked what I heard.  I was in a Fred's department store with my mother and I was looking around the music section of the store.  I picked up a cassette tape…the artist, Elvis Presley.  Later on that day, after mom and I got home, I listened to my new tape.  Little did I know that the man behind the voice would influence me so much.

I was brought up in a Christian home and music was always a part of my life.  My mother was the pianist at our church where my father was also Pastor for almost 25 years.  He sang in the choir with my sister while Mom sang and played the piano.  It was at this church, Trinity Baptist in Jackson, Tennessee, where I began singing.  I was in the children’s choir, the youth choir, and finally, I reached my calling.  At the age of 16, I became Music Director at this same church where I grew up and have been a member since I was 12.  I loved gospel music!  (I am now the Music Director at Shandy Baptist Church right down the road from where we live.)  At this point in my life, I was really just an admirer, listener, and committed fan of Elvis.  I liked singing the songs and trying to recreate the voice I heard.  I liked him so much I even fixed my hair like his.  Try doing this while being in high school.  Of course, my peers talked about me and called me Elvis all the time.  But, I was very strong willed and I did not let anyone bother me.  I just had this attitude that I did not care what people said about me...this was the way I wanted to be and this was the image that seemed to fit me.  Flashy clothes, slicked back hair, that curl falling down my forehead…oh yeah, that definitely sounded like me.  I listened to music that other people my age did not.  I was influenced by a different range of artists such as Conway Twitty, Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, and, of course, Elvis Presley.
With Elvis having the greatest pull on me musically, I started studying his life.  I wanted to learn more about this amazing, world-changing man.  I researched every detail of his life through each song, era, and movie.  I have accumulated massive amounts of Elvis memorabilia, books, and records from family, friends, and fans.  I even have an Elvis Encyclopedia which I read front to back and I have pretty much remembered everything in it.  I love history, so it was so easy to learn and absorb.

On February 13, 2003...I married my wife, Haley.  She is also a huge Elvis fan and she knew that I liked performing his music.  I would sing at the house every day and we would listen to it as we traveled down the road.  After a year of marriage, my wife placed in me the confidence to pursue my dream.  It was because of her that I am able to do this today.  “Could I really be a successful Elvis Impersonator,” I thought. “Sure you can,” she said, “I would love to help you and together, we can make it happen.”  I could not even dance and I had absolutely no rhythm.  Being raised up by a preacher, dancing was not a big thing around our home.  I had no one to teach me…until now.  My wife taught me and helped me to recreate the moves I had always seen Elvis do.  We put together a list of songs, I performed them for her, and she graded me.  Yes, that is what I said.  She graded me for accuracy.  Now, remember what I said earlier...she is a huge Elvis fan.  She knew the words to every song better than I did.  We agreed that until I performed the list of songs perfect, without missing a word or a move, I was not ready.  This went on for about a month.  We came up with an appropriate name for our business which tells exactly what I am doing when I perform.  Here is where “Bringing It Back” Productions was founded.  Along with this, we also needed a title of the show.  It had to be something that would fit the story I was telling.  We then came up with the perfect pitch...“Pieces Of My Life.”  Most people may not know this but, both of these titles (“Bringing It Back” and “Pieces Of My Life”) are titles of two songs that Elvis did in the 1970s.  We then worked toward achieving the complete image from the '50s to the '70s.  We decided to make our show different, something that reflects Elvis's entire legacy.  If you have ever seen an Elvis Impersonator, they were more than likely wearing a Jumpsuit.  Well, being the fans that we are, we love all of Elvis's music and styles.  I worked to obtain the voice and moves for each significant phase, while we worked on wardrobe change ideas to depict each set.  Finally, one day, I was done.  On May 6, 2004, I did my first show at Hornsby Elementary School in Hornsby, Tennessee.  It was a free show, of course, and I performed for the entire school, students and staff.  I was so nervous and kind of scared to look up.  I felt stiff and everything seemed to be in slow motion, but I got through it.  The kids loved me and I felt like a star.  The rest is history!
From that day on, my wife became my Manager.  She booked me everywhere...fairs, festivals, stadiums, restaurants, churches, nursing homes, hotels, car shows, birthdays, you name it...but not bars.  We vowed to never play bars or clubs.  As one can predict, I had become a well known entertainer in our area and region.  It seemed like everywhere I went, people recognized me from somewhere.  After 16 months, my show was going well enough that we could quit our regular jobs.  This was definitely a very big step for us and it was scary.  However, we both prayed about it and with God in every decision we made, we felt hopeful.  Some of our family thought we were crazy.  This was probably mainly due in part that we did not tell anyone until it was done.  I know they were just worried about us and that was okay, too.  Nevertheless, I still pursued my career as an Elvis Impersonator with my wife right by my side.  We did everything together, and we still do. God opened this door for us and we had the courage to walk through it.  We started this together and our business continues to grow.
Now, I have been an Elvis Impersonator for 20 years and this is my FULL-TIME CAREER.  I've performed over 2,400 shows!  As I sit today, I know almost 600 Elvis songs from memory and have developed a 5-octave vocal range.  I recreate it all…the 50s, 60s, and 70s including Movies, Gospel Performances, Christmas Shows, ‘68 Comeback, Concerts, and more.  I never do a show without including Gospel songs.  I give away free souvenirs at every show and always have time to “Meet & Greet” with guests afterwards for pictures, autographs, and conversation.  I like to talk to my fans...hearing them share what they liked about the show, hearing stories they want to tell me, answering any questions they may have, and sharing my love for what I do.  We have over 40 variations of shows and appearances offered and I have over 30 outfit combinations to keep your eyes entertained.  My show has progressed tremendously, as it should, and I stay pretty busy.  I have performed in 11 states, almost 800 cities, and have appeared both locally and nationally on T.V., Radio, and Magazines.  I have even portrayed Elvis in a musical role, been filmed for a documentary, cast in an art film, been a featured artist in a book and was chosen to be the Demo Vocalist for an Elvis Track company.  I perform Solo Shows with professional backing tracks or Live Shows with my own 5-piece Band.  I have 3 agents who book me when Clients need Elvis.  My wife is still my Manager just as she's always been from the beginning.  People contact her on a regular basis, she arranges the gig, and then sends me off to work (or play)...hahaha!  I do have fun and LOVE what I do!
As far as special appearances, some major key venues that I have performed include Beale Street, Branson, Cannon Center, Cook Convention Center, Generals Stadium, Goldstrike Casino, Elvis Plaza, Graceland, Guest Hose, Harrah's Casino, Heartbreak Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Hollywood Casino, International Dogwood Festival, Isle Of Capri Casino, Kentucky Opry, Memphis Airport, Memphis Marriott, Memphis Queen Riverboat, Memphis Zoo, Millington Naval Base, Tennessee International Pageant, Peabody Hotel, Rock-n-Roll Hall Of Fame, Rock-n-Roll Cafe, Rhodes College, Southland Greyhound Park, Tupelo Automobile Museum, Vanderbilt Hotel, and Wolfchase Mall just to name a few.  From birthday parties and festivals, to corporate events and theaters, and also hundreds of Singing Telegram deliveries in between...I have done everything.  People ask me all the time if I enter contests.  I am not much on contests, but I did take first place in the first one I ever entered back in 2005 at Kentucky.  Since then, I have placed 2nd in a couple others, but that's just not my thing.  The more you enter, the better your chances of winning become because your name becomes more familiar with the "contest crowd" and you eventually become one of the known contestants.  Contests are just a publicity thing...something to draw a crowd and capitalize on.  However, I will say that I have met several friends through the contest ring.  Contests can be fun and I will not go as far as to say I will never enter one again, but I'd rather do my own thing!
In 2006, we published this website, www.brianleehowell.com.  It contains everything…my biography, audio and video samples, pictures, booking info, merchandise, and more.  My wife designed the entire thing.  Together, we make a great team!  She takes all my pictures, designs the CDs and merchandise items, and puts together all my promotional material.  We have accomplished so much together and, as a result, we appreciate it that much more.  I thank God every day for blessing me with a talent, giving me the ability to perform, and bringing Haley and I together to work together.  I definitely could have not gotten this far without her or my Lord.

On December 15, 2013, we were blessed with our first baby and sweet little girl, Gracelyn Joyce.  Yes, we named her after the "southern slang" of Graceland.  She is proud of that and tells everyone she was named after Elvis' house.  She loves music and up until she was 5, she came to every one of my shows since she was 4 months old.  Then, we were surprisingly blessed again with another baby girl, Glory Lee, on February 28, 2016.  She knows her name is special too and came from the gospel song "Battle Hymn of the Republic"...Glory, Glory, Hallelujah which Elvis sang in his song "American Trilogy."  She started coming to the shows at 2 months old.  She loves Daddy's singing and Elvis' music.  It is just great to be able to do what you love with the ones you love!  They BOTH sing at church, with their Mommy and even me on a few occasions.  They each have their own YOU TUBE Channels that they enjoy too.  Check them out, Like, and Subscribe to AMAZING GRACELYN and GLORY'S GROOVE MOVES!

Last year on MAY 6, 2024, my wife Haley and our two little girls surprised me with a big 20th Elvis Anniversary Celebration at the same school where I did my first show and on the same exact date as well.  It was so AWESOME!  Haley booked a Fake Show at the school for a Teacher's Luncheon.  She arranged this with the principal and, as it turned out, that week was also Teacher Appreciation Week...wow, how perfect was that?!  Also, the Principal said that this was the only date and time that they could even do this so "It must be meant to be!" I totally agree with that.  When I entered the gym, not only were the teachers there, but the entire school was too...clapping and screaming...I was in a bit of shock because I didn't know anything about this.  Haley had made a 16-minute Video that recapped a little of my 2004 performance along with 167 Photos of places I had performed then ending with a special congratulations to 20 Years & 2290 shows un to that day!  Our girls, Gracelyn & Glory sang a super special gospel song for me, "Strong" for the Opening of the show.  They truly surprised their Daddy and did an amazing job singing in front of their entire school.  My band was even there dressed in their show attire and I did a 30-minute performance to close the event.  In honor of this 20-Year Anniversary, Haley had 20 Teddy Bears and 20 Flowered Leis for me to give out during the show.  The audience was great and the kids LOVED their free concert, getting out of class, and trying to get one of those special souvenirs!  Every class lined up and took a picture with me afterwards.  Even the Bolivar Bulletin Newspaper was there to cover this story.  It was so special and I owe a big THANK YOU VERY MUCH to my superstar wife, Haley and my precious little angels, Gracelyn & Glory for arranging such a special surprise celebration for me!  I will NEVER forget it!
It is amazing that a 3 year old boy, who was not even born when Elvis was alive, can be influenced so much by just one man.  God put him here for a reason...to touch everyone with his music.  I think he did just that for me...this is my career, this is what I love to do, and I can provide for my family doing it.  I will continue to bring back the talent& charisma of Elvis through the songs I sing, the smiles I bring, and the shows I perform.  I will do what I love for as long as God allows me to.  Look for me… wherever I am, I'll be “Bringing It Back!”

I love my job! I get to do what I love...and that is a true career. I get to travel and meet new people and make new friends. I also get to spend all my time with my lovely wife and my two beautiful daughters.  We get to share a lot of family time together, more than most families, and we are truly blessed.  Now, I would like to tell you how I became a Professional Elvis Impersonator.
